I går åpna “bibliotek- utstillinga” for fulle hus på Blomqvist Kunsthandel i Tordenskioldsgate i Oslo sentrum.
I tillegg til Magnus Bjerks fotografier fra Deichman, fra de innerste magasinene til oppe på taket, rommer utstillinga glasskunst, lysinnstallasjoner og bokbål(!). Men ikke å forglemme 141 post-it-lapper med blant annet presentasjon av fjorten “Barske bibliotekarer” og diverse andre biblioteksitater. Denne delen er utført av herværende bibliotekbloggere, Mikael Böök og Anders Ericson. Bøkene der sitatene er tatt fra, pluss en del andre, er også utstilt. Velvillig lånt og fjernlånt via Deichmanske bibliotek. Et hefte som presenterer bibliotekdelen av prosjektet fås i utstillingslokalet.

(The very strong privately funded Carnegie Library tradition of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century even inspired the Norwegian library pioneer Haakon Nyhuus. The Grünerløkka branch of Deichmanske bibliotek in Oslo (1914) is said to be the most carnegiish library building in Norway).
We’ve witnessed the phenomenon over the past few decades of library schools dropping the word “library” from their names and becoming “i-schools.” But I think this is the first example I’ve seen of a public library actually dropping the word “library” from its name.
